About Ayurveda
Ayurveda is a holistic system of medicine which sees a strong connection
between the mind and the body and it originated in India. It aims to provide
complete health with the help of change in food and lifestyle habits. It is
a very detailed system of healing which finds mention in the ancient
scriptures of India as well. The Rigveda , specially speaks of
over 60 preparations that can be used to cure individuals from various
diseases. Ayurveda as a system of medicine has been practiced in India for
thousands of years. Western tourists have always been drawn by Ayurveda as
an alternative system of healing along with Yoga techniques for better life
and health. Spas have always been popular with the tourists and if benefits

According
to Ayurveda, just like nature, every person is made up of five primary
elements. These are space, air, fire, water and earth. Here space and air
combine to form what is known as Vata Dosha. Fire and water combine to form
Pitta Dosha whereas the third one is known as the Kapha Dosha.
Therapies in Ayurveda
Panchakarma
This is a purification therapy which consists of three main steps:
Poorvakarma, Pradhankarma and Pashchatkarma. The aim of this therapy is to
heal the imbalance of Vata, Pitta or Kapha Doshas which are different bio
energies of the body. The first one, Poorvakarma, is the preparation to free
the body from the stored toxins in it. The principal cleansing therapies are
conducted in the second stage. The Pashchatkarma includes the after therapy
care such as the diet, medicines and the daily routine.
Abhyanga

Abhyanga
is the name of full body massage given by two experts who use herbal oils
according to the body type of the patients. The benefits from this therapy
are multifaceted as they improve eye sight, cure sleep disorders and bring a
glow to the skin of the patient concerned.
Udwarthana
This is a different kind of massage as no oils are used in Udwarthana. Only
powders are used since it is intended to stimulate the hair follicles as
well as break down the body fat tissues. This therapy is used for those
patients who want to get rid of the excess fat in their body.
Choornaswedan
This one is also a massage but with a bundle of cloth containing herbal
powders inside. If done effectively, the massage results in patient
perspiring profusely. As a result, the patient is relieved of neurological
disorders, arthritis, rheumatism and other injuries suffered in various
activities including sports injuries.
Gandusa
In this therapy, medicated oil is kept in the mouth for several minutes to
give your face a radiance, remove wrinkles, improve your skin tone etc.
Vaman
This therapy involves deliberate induction of vomiting in the patients by
administering by using herbal decoction. Vamana is specially helpful for
Kapha imbalances in the body such as Asthma, Cough, Psoriasis etc.
